General Reunion Information
TRAVEL
INFORMATION
The Sheraton Hotel in North Charleston is located about 3 miles from the Charleston Airport.
Ground transportation is available between the Airport and the Sheraton Inn through scheduled Shuttle Service (runs every 20 minutes, from 0400 to 2300) provided by the Sheraton Hotel. Pickup is just outside the Baggage Claim area.
DIRECTIONS
Coming in on I-26 East, take Exit 213 E and cross over the overpass. You will see the Sheraton. Turn right on Goer Drive for the entrance. If you are coming in by Highway 17 (either North or South), get on I-526 and get off on onto I-26 Eastbound and follow above directions.
RESERVATIONS
For Hotel reservations and/or information, please call 1-888-747-1900. Group rates are $105.00 plus tax per night. These rates are extended for three nights prior and three nights after the scheduled reunion dates. Parking is free. Please make reservations no later than 11 July 2008. ACTIVITIES
The Sheraton is located less than 5 minutes from the Tanger Outlet Mall with many shops and restaurants (including Sam's and Walmart). The CSS Hunley Museum and the Great Charleston Naval Base Museum are about 20 minutes away on the old Naval Base. Hotel Shuttle Service and Local Bus Service are also available for trips downtown.
CAMPERS /RV
PARKING
There
is limited parking for Campers and RV's next to the hotel. There are no
hookups available. There are campgrounds on the Air Force Base and at
Fain's RV Park on Fain Ave. (both Exit 211 off I-26), less than 10 minutes from
the hotel.
FINAL NOTES:
Please register as soon as possible with the Association and the hotel. The USS Forrestal Association will refund to you any event money if unforeseen problesm arise, but you must inform us 7 days prior to the event. We have to make pre-payments to Bus Company and Events. Tours include costs for buses and those portions may not be refundable.
