This is a 1:48 scale (1/4"=1') model of the Forrestal constructed by the builder of the actual ship (Newport News Ship Building and Dry Dock Company). This model was built as part of the deliverable for the ship, it was the last built at this scale, the largest scale for a ship model built after Forrestal was 1/96. It was shipped to the Department of the Navy in 1956, the specifications are as follows:
