Here is a model of a different seed. This model was built by Mr. Patrick Acton of Matchmaker Entertainment in Gladbrook, Iowa. Mr. Acton created this model completely from ordinary kitchen matchsticks with the exception of 1,500 toothpicks which were used as dowels and handrail posts, and is held together with regular Elmor's wood glue. It was completed between February and July 1993, 700 hours of labor were needed, including drawing, sawing, gluing, and sanding. The Forrestal was the thirty-third matchstick model he had built, and in Mr. Acton's words "It seems ironic that the Forrestal has been constructed out of matchsticks considering the terribly tragic fire that claimed so many good servicemen. This irony never crossed my mind while I was building it, and was pointed out to me after the model was completed. No disrespect was intended." Mr. Acton has also created ship models of the USS Iowa, the USS Midway, and the USS Nimitz. "I'm often asked if I was in the Navy, because of the number of U.S. ships I have made. The answer is no. I am very grateful to all the veterans who have served and given the ultimate sacrifice on my behalf, so that I might live with the freedom, which so many take for granted...I just can't imagine such a huge and marvelous piece of history being forgotten. My salute to all the crew of the USS Forrestal." The specifications are as follows:
