Sturm was done under the direction of Jimmie L. Stewart, President of the U.S.S. Forrestal Naval Museum In Bensalem, Pennsylvania. The painting will soon be available for exhibit at museum promotionals. Because there exists a meticulously detailed, 12' model of the ship which the builder, Jerry Shaw, continually updated with each modification the actual ship underwent for more than thirty years, Mr. Sturm elected to include for the painting, highlights from the USS Forrestal's earliest years. The painting is about to be reproduced as 20" X 24" print. There will also be note-cards with envelopes. The print and cards will be available In late summer, in time for the holiday seasons. This model measures 12' X 3' X 3.5' and weighs 1000 lbs. It has 80 motors and light systems, no details have been spared! The entire hangar bay is finished including fire doors, overhead beams, lights and working elevator doors. Tractors push and retrieve planes from the elevators; the motors activate everything from the anchors, screws, rudders, catapults, five radars, blast deflectors, helicopters, 16 whip antennas, cranes, missile launchers, crash barriers, boarding ladders, and more.
